LUXURY BUSHVELD CHALET AND FAMILY ACCOMMODATION IN PRETORIA
The lodge incorporates ten luxury chalets overlooking the quinine forest, all with en suite bath and shower facilities as well as family accommodation. Your three hearty meals will include some of the more traditional dishes of the region and may well leave you a few kilos heavier (and we don’t mean in your suitcase)!
WHAT WE OFFER @ MOHOLOHOLO FOREST CAMP
Moholoholo Forest Camp offers visitors an intimate bush experience where personal attention and flexibility are key factors. On your arrival we will create a tailor-made itinerary for your stay, which includes three delicious meals, a drive through our private reserve during which there is a chance that you might meet anything from rhino to aardvark, a beautiful morning bushwalk where your experienced guide will open your eyes to the sights, smells and signs of the African bush and, to top it all, a visit to our world-famous wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.
At the Centre you will be given a fully guided tour of all the animals that Moholoholo is rehabilitating, breeding or housing for educational purposes. This provides you with the unique experience to see some of Africa’s most renowned creatures, as well as some of the more secretive ones, up close and personal. In the evening you can reflect on your day with a cold drink in the hand overlooking our water hole, a delicious traditional three-course dinner in front of you and – with any luck – enjoy the company of a bush pig or two!
WILDLIFE AND BIRDS @ MOHOLOHOLO FOREST CAMP
The afternoon and night drives available will take you out of the forest and onto the plains of the reserve where you will experience Africa’s finest whilst overlooking the beautiful mountain backdrop. On the reserve we have a variety of plains game from zebra, giraffe and wildebeest to warthog, impala, kudu and nyala. We also have our resident rhino and hippo, and a whole host of rare night-life including aardvark, pangolin, civet and genet. The habituated animals allow wonderful photographic opportunities and unforgettable encounters.
On your morning bush walk you will be introduced to the sights, smells and signs of the bush and maybe even an encounter with some of the larger animals. Your experienced guide will show you a side of Africa unseen by many, and one which will leave you with a lasting impression as you continue your travels. The unique experience of a trip to our Rehabilitation Centre takes you on a two-hour guided tour, on foot, around the enclosures of all animals that Moholoholo is rehabilitating, breeding and housing for educational purposes.
You will leave the Centre with not only a much better understanding of the conservation issues facing South Africa today but also an unforgettable experience of coming face to face (and in some cases actual interaction), with some of the majestic creatures South Africa shares with us. Lion, leopard, wild dog, hyena, cheetah, honey badger, vulture, eagles, caracals and servals are but a few of the animals you will encounter during your visit. You certainly won’t go away disappointed!
